Biography

Jitendra Joshi is a celebrated Indian actor and lyricist, best known for his impactful work in Marathi cinema and his memorable role in the Netflix series Sacred Games.

Born on 27 January 1979 in Pune, Maharashtra, Joshi grew up in a Marwari family and developed a passion for performance early in life. He began his career in Marathi theatre and television, gaining recognition with the Zee Marathi daily soap Ghadlay Bighadlay, where he played Krishna. His versatility soon led him to films, and he earned widespread acclaim for portraying Sant Tukaram Maharaj in the 2012 Marathi film Tukaram. Beyond acting, Joshi is also a talented lyricist, having penned the popular Marathi song Kombadi Palali, which was later remixed into the Bollywood hit Chikni Chameli.

Joshi’s career expanded into digital platforms when he starred as Constable Katekar in Sacred Games (2018), a role that resonated deeply with audiences and showcased his ability to bring authenticity to complex characters. He has also hosted reality shows like Marathi Paaul Padte Pudhe (2011), further highlighting his multifaceted talent.
