Raj B. Shetty is a multifaceted Indian filmmaker, actor, and screenwriter who has carved a unique niche in Kannada cinema. Born in Mangalore, Karnataka, Shetty began his creative journey as a radio jockey at Big 92.7 FM before transitioning into theatre and short filmmaking. His breakthrough came in 2017 with Ondu Motteya Kathe, a film he wrote, directed, and starred in. The story of a bald man seeking love resonated deeply with audiences and critics alike, earning him widespread acclaim and a Filmfare Award for Best Film in Kannada.
Following this success, Shetty continued to explore offbeat narratives with films like Gubbi Mele Brahmastra (2019), Mayabazar 2016 (2020), and the critically lauded Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana (2021), which he also wrote and directed. The latter is considered one of the finest films in contemporary Kannada cinema, showcasing his ability to blend poetic storytelling with gritty realism.
