Southern states have also made notable progress: Tamil Nadu hosts 1,781 stations, Kerala has 1,392, and Telangana counts 1,066. Meanwhile, Rajasthan (1,531) and Gujarat (1,208) highlight western India’s contribution to the EV revolution.

Other states such as Madhya Pradesh (1,147), Haryana (935), and West Bengal (903) are steadily building infrastructure. Smaller states and union territories, including Goa (158), Himachal Pradesh (137), and Puducherry (50), are also ensuring EV accessibility despite geographical constraints.

At the lower end, regions like Ladakh and Lakshadweep currently have just 1 station each, while Andaman & Nicobar Islands report 4 stations, reflecting the challenges of remote locations.

This distribution underscores India’s diverse progress in EV adoption. While metropolitan and industrial states lead with thousands of stations, smaller regions are gradually catching up. The expansion of charging infrastructure is crucial for India’s transition to clean mobility, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and aligning with global sustainability goals.

As the EV market continues to grow, these numbers are expected to rise sharply, with policy support and private investment driving accessibility across urban and rural landscapes. The future of India’s EV journey will depend on how quickly charging networks expand to meet rising demand.
