Haq (transl. Right) is a courtroom drama directed by Suparn Verma, based on Jigna Vora’s book Bano: Bharat ki Beti. The film stars Yami Gautam Dhar as Shazia Bano, a woman fighting for justice after her husband abandons her and their children, invoking triple talaq. Emraan Hashmi plays Abbas, her husband, with Sheeba Chaddha in a pivotal role. Set in the 1980s, the film dramatizes a landmark Supreme Court case that sparked a national debate on women’s rights, faith, and justice.
