After opening with a modest Rs 5.75 crore net on Friday, the Partition drama recorded a remarkable 134.8% increase on its second day, collecting Rs 13.50 crore in India. The sharp growth came during the Independence Day holiday, giving the film a much-needed boost after its relatively slow opening.
With the Saturday collection added, Batwara 1947 has earned Rs 19.25 crore net in India across its first two days. The strong second-day performance indicates that the film benefited significantly from the extended Independence Day weekend and increased audience turnout. According to trade reports, the movie's worldwide gross had also crossed the Rs 26 crore mark after two days.
The film had started its theatrical journey on August 14 with an India net collection of Rs 5.75 crore. Its opening was considered modest, particularly because it released alongside Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2, which registered a considerably stronger start. Despite the competition, Batwara 1947 managed to attract more viewers on Saturday, suggesting that the holiday period and word-of-mouth may be helping the film recover.
