In a significant legal move, Salman Khan's legal team has issued a formal notice to the makers of the upcoming film "Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy," alleging unauthorized use of the actor's name, persona, and events from his still-pending blackbuck poaching case . The notice, sent through the law firm DSK Legal to casting director Akshay Pandey on April 24, 2026, demands an immediate halt to the film's development, production, and promotional activities .
The legal notice argues that the film's portrayal could interfere with ongoing judicial proceedings, as the blackbuck case remains pending before the Rajasthan High Court . It claims any sensationalized depiction may prejudice public perception and compromise Salman Khan's right to a fair trial. Additionally, the notice accuses the filmmakers of violating the actor's personality and publicity rights while attempting to commercially benefit from his fame and goodwill .
The film's producer, Amit Jani, has responded strongly to the legal notice. Sharing images of the notice on social media, Jani alleged that the move was intended to intimidate those associated with the project .
"Salman Khan has started threatening people associated with the movie Kala Hiran by sending them notices," Jani stated on Facebook . He further added, "The purpose of the notices is to intimidate people so that they succumb to his glamour. It's his habit to intimidate. It's my nature to not be intimidated. He thinks I'm dead. Tell him I'm not dead" .
The legal dispute has cast uncertainty over the film's future, though its teaser is currently scheduled for release on June 20
