Indian 2 Box Office Collection on Day 1: A Record-Breaking Start

Kamal Haasan's much-awaited film, Indian 2, directed by Shankar, hit theaters worldwide on Friday, July 12. The film has already made waves, becoming the biggest Tamil opener of 2024. Here's a breakdown of its impressive first-day performance:

1. Domestic Collection:
   - Indian 2 is expected to open in the range of Rs 35-40 crore nett in India. This figure sets a new record for any Tamil film released this year.

   - The film follows the story of Senapathy, a freedom fighter-turned-vigilante who fights corruption in India. Kamal Haasan reprises his iconic role from the 1996 film Indian.

   - While the Tamil and Telugu markets contributed significantly to the opening collections, the Hindi version had lower expectations due to limited promotions in the North and competition from Akshay Kumar's film, Sarfira. The Hindi version is estimated to collect Rs 2-4 crore nett.

2. Advance Booking:

   - Indian 2 recorded an impressive Rs 15 crore gross (including block seats) from pre-sales business in India. The Tamil version alone contributed over Rs 10 crore gross in advance bookings.
   - Positive word-of-mouth will be crucial for the film to cross the Rs 40 crore mark on the first day.

3. Worldwide Opening:

   - The film is expected to hold a worldwide opening of over Rs 50 crore gross.
   - Comparing it to Kamal Haasan's previous film, Vikram, which registered a worldwide opening of Rs 60 crore gross in 2022, Indian 2 has set high expectations.

Indian 2 has stormed the box office, and fans eagerly await its continued success throughout the weekend.
