Vikram Declines Villain Role in SS Rajamouli’s SSMB 29

Tamil superstar Chiyaan Vikram has reportedly turned down the offer to play the antagonist in SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film, SSMB 29, starring Mahesh Babu. The film, touted as a high-budget action-adventure, is expected to be one of the biggest projects in Indian cinema.

Why Did Vikram Reject the Role?
Sources close to the project revealed that Vikram had extensive discussions with Rajamouli regarding the character, which was described as powerful with grey shades. However, Vikram ultimately decided against taking on a negative role, citing his preference for hero-centric characters at this stage in his career. Despite the rejection, Vikram expressed deep respect for Rajamouli’s filmmaking vision and parted ways on amicable terms.

Who Will Replace Vikram?
Following Vikram’s exit, the makers are reportedly considering Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran for the antagonist role. Prithviraj, known for his intense performances, recently impressed audiences with his portrayal in Salaar, making him a strong contender for the role. Additionally, R. Madhavan is also rumored to be in talks for the same character.

Impact on Vikram’s Career
While some industry experts believe that rejecting a Rajamouli film could be a missed opportunity, Vikram remains focused on lead roles to maintain his mass hero image. His upcoming projects include Veera Dheera Sooran 2 and Thangalaan, which aim to reinforce his stature in Tamil cinema.
