Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, the film tells the gripping story of a fisherman from Srikakulam who accidentally drifts into Pakistani waters and the struggles he faces to return home.
Netflix has acquired the streaming rights for Thandel, making it available for streaming 50 days after its theatrical release. This means fans can look forward to streaming the movie on Netflix in the last week of March 2025. The film will be available in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada.
The OTT rights for Thandel were acquired by Netflix for a whopping ₹45 crore, which is nearly 80% of the film's budget. This deal has already covered a significant portion of the film's production costs, making it a profitable venture even before its theatrical release.
Thandel follows the journey of Raju, played by Naga Chaitanya, and his love interest Satya, played by Sai Pallavi. The film explores themes of courage, patriotism, and the power of love as Raju fights to return home after being captured by Pakistani forces. The film also features a soulful soundtrack composed by Devi Sri Prasad.
Produced by Bunny Vas under Allu Aravind’s presentation, Thandel boasts a talented technical team with cinematography by Shamdat Sainudeen and editing by Naveen Nooli. The film has received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and has a runtime of two hours and 25 minutes.
