Story
"Indian 2" is an eagerly awaited Tamil action drama movie directed by the renowned filmmaker Shankar. The film marks a significant collaboration between Kamal Haasan and Shankar after a considerable gap, as they reunite to create a sequel to their 1996 blockbuster "Indian." The official announcement of this movie was made by Kamal Haasan during the grand finale of Bigg Boss Tamil. "Indian 2" is a bilingual production, set to be released in both Tamil and Telugu. The female lead in the movie is played by Kajal Aggarwal. The movie boasts a talented cast and crew.
The film is being produced by Subashkaran and Udhayanidhi Stalin, under the banners of Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies, respectively. The music for "Indian 2" will be composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Notable crew members include editor Sreekar Prasad, dialogue writers Jayamohan, Kabilan Vairamuthu, and Lakshmi Sarvanakumar, action directors Jack Gill, Tadd Griffith, and Peter Hein, lyricists Thamrai and Vivek, choreographer Bosco Martis, and special makeup by Legacy Effects.
Production of the movie faced a setback when an accident on the set in February 2020 resulted in the tragic loss of some crew members. Subsequently, production was further delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, budget overruns, legal disputes, and scheduling conflicts of the cast and crew.
After the success of Kamal Haasan's film "Vikram," "Indian 2" regained industry attention. Red Giant Movies and Lyca Productions jointly announced the resumption of filming, with Red Giant Movies joining as a production partner. On August 24, 2022, the production houses released a poster with the tagline 'He is Back,' signaling the restart of the movie shoot.
Currently, the dubbing process for "Indian 2" is underway in Chennai, with Kamal Haasan and other members of the star-studded cast, including Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, and Rakul Preet Singh, lending their voices. The dubbing is expected to take several weeks, after which the film will enter the post-production phase. The release date for "Indian 2" is scheduled for 2024, and it is poised to captivate audiences worldwide with its multilingual release in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.
