Her parents played a crucial role in her journey by reading books aloud for hours every day. Friends and seniors also stepped forward to convert study materials into audio formats.
Technology became another important tool in her preparation. She used screen-reading software such as NVDA and text-to-speech applications on her laptop to access information and continue studying independently. With determination, patience, and a strong support system, she continued her preparation despite repeated setbacks.
Her journey was not an overnight success. It took five years of consistent effort and four attempts at the UPSC examination before she achieved her breakthrough. In 2019, Poorna Sundari secured an impressive All India Rank (AIR) 286 in the Civil Services Examination.
She dedicated her success to her parents, whose sacrifices and encouragement helped her reach this milestone. Although she was initially denied an IAS position because of her visual impairment, she did not let disappointment stop her. She joined the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) and is currently serving as an Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax.
