Ekadashi holds great religious and spiritual significance among Hindus. It is believed that observing a fast on this day helps devotees attain moksha (salvation) and removes all forms of negativity and sins. Devotees seek Lord Vishnu's blessings for victory over obstacles and spiritual growth.
On the day of Ekadashi, devotees wake up early and take a holy bath. They place an idol of Lord Vishnu on a wooden plank and light a diya (earthen lamp) with desi ghee. Incense sticks are lit, and various Vedic mantras are chanted. Yellow flower garlands are offered, and a yellow chandan tilak is applied to the forehead of Vishnu Ji. Devotees recite Vishnu Sahasranama, which is believed to remove past sins and bestow prosperity and happiness.
There are certain precautions to observe on Ekadashi. Devotees should bathe only with water or mix gangajal in the water. Tulsi leaves should not be plucked on Ekadashi day but a day before. Rice should be avoided on this day and can be eaten on Dwadashi Tithi. Harsh words should not be spoken to anyone.
Mantras such as "Om Namo Bhagvate Vasudevaye" and "Hare Ram Hare Ram Ram Ram Hare Hare, Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare" are recited to seek Lord Vishnu's blessings.
Observing Ekadashi with sincerity and devotion is believed to bring immense spiritual and material benefits. It is a day to strengthen one's connection with Lord Vishnu and seek his divine blessings.
