Bangalore Hasi Karaga Festival 2024 Celebration Photos & Videos

The Hasi Karaga Festival is an annual celebration in Bangalore, Karnataka, with a rich history spanning over 300 years. It honors Draupadi, the community deity of the Vanihikula Kshatriyas, who symbolizes woman power and strength. The festival takes place in March or April, coinciding with the Chaitra month in the Hindu calendar. During the 11-day celebration, rituals and traditions associated with the epic Mahabharata are observed.

The highlight of the festival is the night-long procession, where a bearer carries a mud pot on their head, balancing a tall floral pyramid and an idol of the Goddess. The contents of the pot remain a secret. The bearer’s wife plays a significant role, acting as a widow throughout the festival. The procession concludes with devotees immersing the Karaga in a saltwater pond. The Hasi Karaga Festival is celebrated on 22nd of April, 2024.
