In anticipation of the heavy footfall during Navratri 2025, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking has announced enhanced bus services to facilitate smoother travel for devotees visiting the iconic Mahalaxmi Temple. The move comes as part of BEST’s annual initiative to support religious tourism and ensure public convenience during major festivals in Mumbai.
Starting from September 22 through the end of Navratri, BEST will operate additional buses on key routes connecting Mahalaxmi Temple to major railway stations such as Mumbai Central, Dadar, and Churchgate. Special shuttle services will run at increased frequency during peak hours, especially in the evenings when temple visits surge. BEST officials have also confirmed that select buses will operate until midnight to accommodate late-night darshan seekers.
To further ease the commute, BEST has deployed volunteers at major bus stops near the temple to guide passengers and manage crowd flow. Digital displays and mobile app updates will provide real-time information on bus timings and route changes. The undertaking has also collaborated with local traffic police to ensure minimal congestion around the temple premises, with designated drop-off zones and temporary diversions in place.
Devotees and commuters have welcomed the initiative, praising BEST for its proactive approach. With thousands expected to throng Mahalaxmi Temple during the nine-day festival, the enhanced transport services are seen as a vital step toward maintaining order and accessibility. BEST has urged passengers to plan their travel in advance and make use of the extended services to enjoy a safe and comfortable Navratri experience.
