Navjot Kaur Sidhu, the wife of Congress leader and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, has been served a ₹850 crore notice by the Chhattisgarh Civil Society (CCS). The notice comes in response to claims made by her husband regarding the effectiveness of traditional remedies in treating her stage 4 cancer.
During a press conference on November 21, Navjot Singh Sidhu credited a strict diet and natural remedies, including neem, turmeric, lemon, water, and beetroot, for his wife's recovery. He claimed that these remedies helped her overcome cancer after doctors had given her only 40 days to live2.
The CCS, led by convener Dr. Kuldeep Solanki, has expressed concerns that such claims could mislead the public and negatively impact the perception of allopathic medicine. Dr. Solanki emphasized that false claims like these could cause cancer patients to abandon their prescribed treatments, thereby increasing their risk of death.
The society has demanded that Navjot Kaur Sidhu provide evidence to support her husband's claims within seven days or face legal action. They have also requested a public clarification to prevent any further misinformation.
Navjot Singh Sidhu's statements have sparked significant backlash from the medical community, with many health professionals urging the public to seek expert medical advice for cancer treatment and warning against unverified alternative methods.
