Lalita

Story

Lalita is a folklore-based Odia film directed by Kalyan Gupta and written by Kabichandra Kalicharan Pattnaik. The story revolves around King Indradyumna’s quest to find Lord Jagannath (Nila Madhaba). His messenger, Bidyapati, discovers the deity hidden in a Savara village, where he marries Lalita, the daughter of the Savara king Biswabasu. Through Lalita’s persuasion, Bidyapati gains access to the sacred Lord, setting the stage for the eventual establishment of the Jagannath temple at Puri.

The film starred Lokanatha Mishra, Uma Banerjee, Sumati Devi, and Pankaj Nanda, with music composed by Kali Charan Pattanayak.
