Story

Kombuseevi is a Tamil gangster action drama directed and written by Ponram, produced by Mukesh T. Chelliah under the Star Cinemas banner. The film stars Shanmuga Pandian (son of Vijayakanth), R. Sarathkumar, and debutant Tharnika, with music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Set in a village near Andipatti, the story introduces Rokkapuli (Sarathkumar), a ruffian who becomes both a messiah and a menace, engaging in violent activities and ganja smuggling. The narrative intertwines themes of loyalty, betrayal, and survival, portraying how crime infiltrates rural communities. Shanmuga Pandian plays Paandi, a young man caught in the web of gangster politics, while Tharnika’s character adds emotional depth to the storyline. The cinematography by Balasubramaniem captures the raw landscapes of Tamil Nadu, and Dinesh Ponraj’s editing maintains a gripping pace. Inspired by real-life incidents around the Vaigai Dam region in the late 1990s, the film balances action sequences with social commentary.
