The story revolves around Sanjay Vishwanath, played by Suriya, a wealthy businessman and accomplished pistol shooter. Despite his professional success, Sanjay faces pressure from his family to settle down and provide an heir. His decision to have a child through surrogacy sets the story in motion. When circumstances force him to reconnect with Maddy, played by Mamitha Baiju, their relationship gradually becomes the emotional centre of the film.

The first half is easily the film's strongest portion. Venky Atluri keeps the proceedings breezy, mixing comedy, romance and family interactions without allowing the story to become too heavy. Suriya gets an opportunity to play a charming, relaxed and occasionally humorous character, and he makes the most of it. His comic timing and effortless screen presence are among the film's biggest strengths.

Mamitha Baiju is another major highlight. She brings considerable energy and emotional depth to Maddy, and her chemistry with Suriya works better than one might initially expect. The film also acknowledges the considerable age gap between the two characters rather than completely ignoring it, giving the central relationship some additional context.

Radhika Sarathkumar delivers a convincing performance as Sanjay's mother, while the supporting cast adds warmth to the family portions. The combination of character reactions and situational humour works particularly well in the first half. The film's music and colourful visuals also complement its feel-good atmosphere.

However, Vishwanath & Sons loses some momentum after the interval. The narrative shifts towards a broader family drama, and certain portions feel familiar. The second half contains emotional scenes and interesting ideas, but the screenplay occasionally becomes predictable and slightly stretched. Critics have also pointed out that the film's plot is weaker than its performances and emotional appeal.

The film's biggest achievement is that it does not try to turn Suriya into an over-the-top action hero. Instead, it allows him to carry a character-driven family entertainer with humour and vulnerability. That change of tone works in his favour. The emotional moments, particularly those involving family and relationships, give the film a pleasant aftertaste.

Overall, Vishwanath & Sons is a clean, enjoyable and largely feel-good family entertainer. It may not have a consistently strong screenplay, but Suriya's charm, Mamitha Baiju's lively performance, the humour and the emotional core make it worth watching. The film is best enjoyed as a light-hearted theatrical experience rather than a tightly written drama.
