Hyundai Motor is preparing one of its most aggressive product strategies for the Indian market, with plans to launch or refresh 26 models in India by 2030. The announcement is part of a much larger global offensive that will see Hyundai introduce or update more than 100 vehicles worldwide across 18 segments.
The ambitious roadmap underlines the growing importance of India in Hyundai’s global operations. The company plans to expand its portfolio across multiple powertrains and vehicle categories as consumer preferences continue to evolve. The strategy will include petrol-powered vehicles as well as electric, hybrid and extended-range electric models.
Seven New Models in the Next Eight Months
Hyundai is expected to accelerate its India launch programme, with seven new models planned within the next eight months, according to reports. The company is also preparing to enter additional vehicle segments, potentially including pickups and commercial vehicles.
One of the key upcoming launches is an entry-level electric SUV, which is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026. Hyundai is also working on expanding its SUV portfolio, an important move as SUVs continue to dominate India's passenger vehicle market.
₹45,000 Crore Investment and More Production
The product expansion will be supported by a major increase in Hyundai's manufacturing capacity in India. The automaker plans to add around 3.2 lakh units of annual manufacturing capacity as part of its wider global capacity expansion programme through 2030.
Hyundai also aims to increase local component sourcing in India to around 90% by 2030. With more than 1,400 domestic suppliers and around 900 local engineers, the company wants India to become an increasingly important manufacturing and engineering base.
India to Become a Major Export Hub
Hyundai's India strategy goes beyond domestic sales. The company plans to use its Indian operations as an export hub, with around 30% of local production targeted for exports to markets including the Middle East, Africa, Asia and South America.
This could strengthen India's role in Hyundai's global supply chain while helping the company improve production efficiency and access international markets.
Genesis Could Enter India
Hyundai's luxury brand Genesis is also expected to enter India and the wider Asia-Pacific market in the coming years. The brand is preparing a portfolio that includes hybrid and extended-range electric vehicles, although a specific India launch timeline has not yet been announced.
Overall, Hyundai's 26-model India roadmap represents a major expansion of its presence in the country. With new SUVs, EVs, updated existing models, additional segments and increased manufacturing capacity, the company is clearly aiming to regain market momentum and strengthen India's position within its global business strategy.
