Biography

Aditya Dhar began his career in the entertainment industry not as a director but through diverse roles—he studied hotel management, worked as a radio jockey, and explored theatre before entering cinema. He initially worked as an assistant director and lyricist, contributing to films like Kabul Express (2008). His breakthrough came with Uri: The Surgical Strike, which he wrote in just 12 days. The film became one of the highest-grossing Indian films of 2019 and won him the National Film Award for Best Director.

In 2025, Dhar directed Dhurandhar, a spy action-thriller that became the highest-grossing Hindi film in India and the most successful A-rated Indian film of all time. His storytelling blends patriotism, sharp action sequences, and emotional depth. Married to actress Yami Gautam since 2021, the couple welcomed their first child in 2023. Dhar continues to be one of Bollywood’s most promising filmmakers, shaping modern Hindi cinema with his disciplined style and bold narratives.
