Biography

Akshay Kumar, originally named Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia, began his journey from humble roots in Delhi before moving to Mumbai to pursue his dreams. He worked as a chef and waiter in Bangkok, where he also trained in martial arts, before entering the film industry. His debut film Saugandh (1991) marked the beginning of a career that would see him rise as Bollywood’s leading action star. Nicknamed “Khiladi Kumar”, he became synonymous with the Khiladi film series, showcasing his daredevil stunts and martial arts skills.

Over the years, Akshay transitioned seamlessly into comedy, drama, and socially relevant films, earning critical acclaim and commercial success. He has won two National Film Awards and two Filmfare Awards, and was honored with the Padma Shri in 2009. Beyond acting, he is a film producer and philanthropist, often supporting causes related to education, health, and disaster relief. Forbes consistently ranked him among the world’s highest-paid actors between 2015 and 2020, cementing his global influence.
