Amrish Puri was born on 1932-06-22 in Nawanshahr, Punjab, India. Initially rejected in his early attempts to join films, he turned to theatre and became a prominent figure with Prithvi Theatre. His commanding voice, intense expressions, and towering presence soon made him one of the most memorable actors in Indian cinema.
He gained international fame with his role as Mogambo in Mr. India (1987) and also appeared in Hollywood films like Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984).
