Athiya Shetty was born on 1992-11-05 in Bombay (now Mumbai), Maharashtra, India. She is the daughter of veteran actor Suniel Shetty and Mana Shetty, a director and philanthropist. Her younger brother, Ahan Shetty, is also an actor. Athiya studied at Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai and later pursued filmmaking and liberal arts at the New York Film Academy. She made her Bollywood debut in Hero (2015), which earned her several debut awards and nominations.
Despite her promising start, Athiya’s acting career was relatively short-lived. After appearing in Mubarakan (2017) and Motichoor Chaknachoor (2019), she stepped away from films. In January 2023, she married Indian cricketer KL Rahul in a private ceremony. Athiya is known for her fashion sense and has often been featured in lifestyle magazines.
