Bhasha Sumbli (real name: Bhasha Sumbli) comes from a Kashmiri Pandit family with strong literary roots. Her mother, Kshama Kaul, is a poet and author, while her father, Kuldeep Sumbli (pen name Agnishekhar), is a Hindi poet and writer. Her family was displaced during the Kashmiri Pandit exodus in the 1990s, and they later settled in Delhi.
She studied acting at the National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi, specializing in classical forms like Koodiyattam. Before films, she was deeply involved in theatre as an actress, director, and acting coach. Her film career began with a cameo in Chhapaak (2020), followed by impactful roles in The Kashmir Files (2022), Baramulla, and Mandali. She continues to balance theatre and cinema, known for her emotionally intense performances.
