Brahmanandam, born Kanneganti Brahmanandam on 1 February 1956 in Sattenapalle, Andhra Pradesh, is a legendary Indian actor and comedian primarily known for his work in Telugu cinema. Before entering films, he worked as a lecturer in Telugu literature after completing his M.A. in Telugu. His entry into cinema came through director Jandhyala, who cast him in Aha Naa Pellanta (1987), a film that marked the beginning of his illustrious career. Since then, Brahmanandam has appeared in over 1,000 films, earning him a Guinness World Record for the most screen credits for a living actor.
Recognized as one of India’s finest comic actors, he has received numerous accolades, including six Nandi Awards, two Filmfare Awards South, and the Padma Shri in 2009. His impeccable comic timing and unique expressions have made him a household name, and he continues to be celebrated as the “Comedy King” of Tollywood. Beyond films, he has contributed to television and has been honored with an honorary doctorate by Acharya Nagarjuna University.
