Charlotte Frances Riley studied English and Linguistics at Durham University, where she was active in theater and comedy groups. She later trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), graduating in 2007. Her early breakthrough came with her role as Catherine Earnshaw in ITV’s adaptation of Wuthering Heights (2009), which showcased her dramatic talent.
She went on to star in films like Easy Virtue (2008) and gained wider recognition through her role in Peaky Blinders (2014–2016). Riley has also appeared in Edge of Tomorrow (2014) alongside Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. Known for her versatility, she has worked across theater, television, and film, building a reputation as one of Britain’s most accomplished actresses.
