Dakota Johnson is an American actress and model, best known for her role as Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades film series (2015–2018). Born on 1989-10-04 in Austin, Texas, she comes from a family of actors, being the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, and granddaughter of Tippi Hedren.

Dakota Mayi Johnson began her acting career at the age of ten with a role in Crazy in Alabama (1999), directed by her then-stepfather Antonio Banderas and starring her mother Melanie Griffith. After finishing high school, she pursued acting seriously, landing a minor role in The Social Network (2010). Her breakthrough came with the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy, which catapulted her to international fame and earned her nominations and awards, including a BAFTA Rising Star nomination in 2016.

Beyond Fifty Shades, Johnson has built a diverse career, appearing in films such as Black Mass (2015), Suspiria (2018), The Peanut Butter Falcon (2019), and Cha Cha Real Smooth (2022).
