Dhanush entered the film industry in 2002 with Thulluvadho Ilamai, directed by his father Kasthuri Raja. Initially criticized for his unconventional looks, he quickly silenced critics with his powerful performances in films like Kadhal Kondein and Pudhupettai. His breakthrough came with Aadukalam (2010), which earned him the National Film Award for Best Actor. Beyond acting, he gained international fame with the viral song Why This Kolaveri Di in 2011, showcasing his talent as a playback singer and lyricist.

Over the years, Dhanush expanded his horizons by acting in Bollywood films like Raanjhanaa and Shamitabh, and even Hollywood with The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir. He is also a successful producer and director, contributing significantly to Tamil cinema’s growth.
