Biography

Edward Christopher Sheeran grew up in Framlingham, Suffolk, in an artistic household that nurtured his love for music. He began singing in a church choir at age four and taught himself guitar as a child. Inspired by Damien Rice, he started writing songs at age eleven. By his teenage years, Sheeran was recording and self-releasing music, including early projects like Spinning Man (2005) and Want Some? (2007). He moved to London in 2008 to pursue music full-time, performing hundreds of gigs and gaining recognition through online platforms like SB.TV.

His breakthrough came in 2011 with the independently released No.5 Collaborations Project, which led to a record deal with Asylum Records. His debut album + (Plus) (2011) featured “The A Team” and earned him Brit Awards. His second album × (Multiply) (2014) included “Thinking Out Loud,” which won Grammy Awards for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance. In 2017, ÷ (Divide) became the best-selling album worldwide, with singles like “Shape of You” and “Perfect” dominating charts. He continued his success with No.6 Collaborations Project (2019), = (Equals) (2021), − (Subtract) (2023), and Autumn Variations (2023). His eighth studio album Play was released in 2025.

Beyond music, Sheeran has acted in small roles, including Game of Thrones (2017). He is also known for philanthropy, supporting education and music initiatives in Suffolk. Married to Cherry Seaborn since 2019, he is a father of two. Today, Ed Sheeran remains one of the most influential artists of his generation, blending pop, folk, and hip-hop influences into his signature style.
