Emily Beecham studied acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), graduating in 2006. She began her career with roles in British television and independent films, quickly gaining recognition for her versatility. Her early work included appearances in The Street and Afterlife, which showcased her ability to embody complex characters.
Her breakthrough came with AMC’s Into the Badlands (2015–2019), where she played The Widow, a fierce and enigmatic warrior. She won the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019 for her role in Little Joe, further establishing her as a critically acclaimed performer. Beecham has also appeared in Cruella (2021) and continues to balance independent cinema with mainstream projects.
