Biography

Farhan Akhtar is the son of renowned lyricist Javed Akhtar and screenwriter Honey Irani. He began his career as a director with the cult classic Dil Chahta Hai (2001), which redefined modern Indian cinema. He went on to direct Lakshya (2004) and Don (2006), showcasing his flair for storytelling. Transitioning into acting, Farhan made his debut with Rock On!! (2008), winning the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. His portrayal of Milkha Singh in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013) earned him widespread acclaim and established him as one of Bollywood’s most versatile performers.

Apart from films, Farhan is also a singer and lyricist, often lending his voice to his movies. He co-founded Excel Entertainment with Ritesh Sidhwani, producing successful films like Dil Dhadakne Do and Gully Boy. Known for his creative energy, Farhan continues to balance acting, directing, producing, and music, making him a multi-talented force in Indian entertainment.
