Biography

G. V. Prakash Kumar was born on 1987-06-13 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, to singer A. R. Reihana. He grew up in a musically inclined family, with his uncle being the world-renowned composer A. R. Rahman. His early exposure to music shaped his career path, and he made his debut as a composer with Veyil (2006), which was critically acclaimed. Over the years, he established himself as one of the most sought-after music directors in Tamil cinema, composing for films like Aadukalam (2011), Theri (2016), and Asuran (2019).

In 2015, Prakash transitioned into acting with the horror-comedy Darling, which was a commercial success. He has since acted in several films, balancing his dual careers as a composer and actor. His versatility and dedication have earned him two National Film Awards, three Filmfare Awards, and three SIIMA Awards. Despite his busy professional life, he remains deeply connected to his musical roots and continues to experiment with diverse genres.
