G. V. Prakash Kumar was born on 1987-06-13 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, to singer A. R. Reihana. He grew up in a musically inclined family, with his uncle being the world-renowned composer A. R. Rahman. His early exposure to music shaped his career path, and he made his debut as a composer with Veyil (2006), which was critically acclaimed. Over the years, he established himself as one of the most sought-after music directors in Tamil cinema, composing for films like Aadukalam (2011), Theri (2016), and Asuran (2019).
In 2015, Prakash transitioned into acting with the horror-comedy Darling, which was a commercial success. He has since acted in several films, balancing his dual careers as a composer and actor.
