Biography

Malavalli Nataraj, popularly known as Gilli Nata, was born on 21 June 1998 in Dadadapura, Malavalli, Mandya, Karnataka. Raised in a modest household—his father a sheep herder and his mother a homemaker—Nata’s early life was marked by simplicity and struggle. Despite limited resources, he nurtured a passion for performance and entertainment, which later defined his career.

Gilli began his professional journey behind the scenes, working as a set assistant and art department helper in Kannada films. His first recognition came in 2021 through a YouTube short series PO2. However, his breakthrough arrived in 2022 with Comedy Khiladigalu Season 4, where his sharp wit and rustic humor earned him the position of first runner-up. This exposure led to appearances in Dance Karnataka Dance, where he won the Best Entertainer Award.

In cinema, Gilli made his debut with Langoti Man (2024) and later appeared in Darshan’s The Devil (2025). Yet, his defining moment came with Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12 (2025–26), where his honesty, fearless attitude, and rural charm resonated deeply with audiences. Emerging as the winner, he became one of the most beloved contestants in the show’s history.

Known for his humor, humility, and relatability, Gilli Nata represents the aspirations of small-town youth striving for recognition in the entertainment industry.
