Girija Oak, also known after marriage as Girija Oak Godbole, is the daughter of veteran Marathi actor Dr. Girish Oak. She studied at Thakur College of Science and Commerce in Mumbai before pursuing acting full-time. Her debut came with Marathi films like Juiley (2004) and she later gained national recognition with her role in Taare Zameen Par. Over the years, she has balanced her career between Marathi cinema, Hindi films, and television, earning acclaim for her natural performances.
She married Suhrud Godbole in 2011, who is the son of noted Marathi writer and director Vidyadhar Godbole. Together they have one child. Girija has also acted in popular Marathi TV shows like Lajja and Hindi serials such as Ladies Special. Her career reflects a blend of mainstream cinema and regional storytelling, making her one of the most respected contemporary actresses in India.
