Her father is Catholic and her mother is Muslim. She became a Portuguese citizen in 2014. D'Cruz has won a Filmfare Award and a Filmfare Awards South.
D'Cruz made her screen debut in the 2006 Telugu film Devadasu, which became the year's first major commercial success. She won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debutant for her role in the film. She has also starred in Munna, Julayi, Kick, Barfi, Rustom, and Raid.
