Biography

James Brian Mark Purefoy began his career in theater before transitioning to television and film. He studied at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, where he honed his craft. His breakout role came as Marcus Antonius in HBO’s Rome (2005–2007), which showcased his ability to portray historical figures with depth and charisma.

Over the years, Purefoy has built a diverse career spanning genres. He played Joe Carroll, a chilling serial killer, in Fox’s The Following (2013–2015), starred as Solomon Kane in the 2009 fantasy film, and appeared as Laurens Bancroft in Netflix’s Altered Carbon (2018). His versatility has made him a respected figure in both British and international entertainment.
