James Brian Mark Purefoy began his career in theater before transitioning to television and film. He studied at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, where he honed his craft. He played Joe Carroll, a chilling serial killer, in Fox’s The Following (2013–2015), starred as Solomon Kane in the 2009 fantasy film, and appeared as Laurens Bancroft in Netflix’s Altered Carbon (2018).
