Biography

Johan Shevanesh was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, into a musically inclined family. He began learning the keyboard in sixth grade and later studied sound engineering at A.R. Rahman’s KM Conservatory (then known as Vaappa Conservatory). Early in his career, he performed with the Lakshman Sruthi orchestra, which gave him opportunities to interact with legendary musicians like S.P. Balasubrahmanyam and Ilaiyaraaja. His first major break came when he composed music for the Tamil film Metro (2016), which earned him recognition in the industry.

He expanded his career into filmmaking, gaining attention for Uru (2017), a psychological thriller praised for its gripping narrative. In 2024, he was associated with White Rose, a film exploring complex themes, and also worked on Pimbilikki Pilappi (Mama Biscothu). His diverse filmography showcases his ability to move between music direction and storytelling, establishing him as a multifaceted artist in Tamil cinema.
