Kani Kusruti, born on 1985-09-12 in Cheruvakkal, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, is an Indian actress and theatre performer celebrated for her unconventional roles and fearless portrayals of women navigating complex social realities. Raised by activist parents Jayasree A. K. and Maitreya Maitreyan, she grew up in a politically aware environment that shaped her worldview. She studied at the School of Drama, Thrissur, and later trained at L'École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris, which gave her a strong foundation in experimental theatre and performance art.

Her career began with small roles in Malayalam cinema, but she gained recognition with Kerala Cafe (2009). Her breakthrough came with Biriyaani (2020), which earned her multiple Best Actress awards. She has also appeared in OK Computer (2021), All We Imagine as Light (2024), and Girls Will Be Girls (2024).
