Katherine LaNasa began her career as a professional ballet dancer, training at the North Carolina School of the Arts and later performing with ballet companies. Her background in dance gave her discipline and stage presence, which she carried into her acting career. She transitioned into acting in the late 1980s, appearing in guest roles on television before landing recurring parts.
Her breakthrough came with the sitcom Three Sisters (2001–2002), and she went on to star in numerous TV dramas and films.
