Biography

Katheryn Winnick grew up in Toronto, Canada, in a Ukrainian family. She began training in martial arts at the age of seven and earned her first black belt by thirteen. By twenty-one, she had opened several martial arts schools, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit. Her early discipline and confidence translated into her acting career, where she initially appeared in guest roles on television before landing more prominent parts.

Her breakthrough came with the role of Lagertha in Vikings (2013–2020), which earned her critical acclaim and international recognition. Winnick’s performance as the fierce shieldmaiden resonated with audiences and established her as a leading actress in historical and action genres. Beyond acting, she has directed episodes of Wu Assassins and continues to expand her career in both film and television.
