Ketan Desai grew up in a film family, being the only son of Manmohan Desai, one of Bollywood’s most successful directors. He assisted his father in filmmaking and later carried forward the family legacy by directing films such as Allah Rakha (1986), Toofan (1989), and Anmol (1993). His directorial style leaned heavily on the masala genre, blending action, drama, and family themes, much like his father’s films.
As a producer, Ketan Desai contributed to major projects under the MKD Films banner, including Coolie (1983) and Mard (1985), both starring Amitabh Bachchan. He also produced Deewana Mastana (1997) and Yeh Hai Jalwa (2002). Married to Kanchan Kapoor, daughter of actor Shammi Kapoor and actress Geeta Bali, Ketan Desai is connected to two of Bollywood’s most influential film families. He continues to be remembered for his contributions to mainstream Hindi cinema.
