Kollam Thulasi, born S. Thulasidharan Nair on May 29, 1949, in Kollam, Kerala, is a distinguished actor in Malayalam cinema. He adopted the name “Kollam” as part of his stage identity, linking his birthplace to his persona. Thulasi began his career in government service in 1970 at Kozhikode Corporation, eventually retiring as a Deputy Secretary. Alongside his administrative career, he nurtured his passion for acting, poetry, and public service.
His first notable film appearance was in Mukhyamantri (1985), and he later gained recognition for his roles in Ezhuthappurangal (1987) and numerous other Malayalam films. Known for his unique acting style, he often portrayed villainous or character roles, which became his hallmark. Over the decades, he has acted in more than 100 films, including Tamil projects like Samurai.
Beyond cinema, Kollam Thulasi is also a poet and has contributed to Malayalam literature. He is active in politics as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
