Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy, popularly known as Krishna, was born on 31 May 1943 in Burripalem, Madras Province (now Andhra Pradesh). He was an iconic Indian actor, director, producer, and politician who worked primarily in Telugu cinema. Krishna made his debut in Tene Manasulu (1965) and went on to star in over 350 films across five decades. He was widely admired for his versatility, portraying mythological, social, and action-oriented roles, and earned the title “Superstar” and “Nata Sekhar” in Telugu cinema.
Krishna was also a pioneer in introducing new technologies to Telugu films, including Eastman color, Cinemascope, and 70mm format. His notable works include Alluri Seetharama Raju (1974), Gudachari 116, Mosagallaku Mosagadu, and Simhasanam. Beyond cinema, he served as a Member of Parliament and was honored with the Padma Bhushan for his contribution to Indian cinema. He passed away on 15 November 2022 at the age of 79, leaving behind a rich legacy that continues to inspire generations.
