Biography

Kuldeep Sinha was born on 18 December in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his primary education in Jhansi and later pursued cinema studies at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. He also studied journalism and management in Mumbai. His career spans decades in film writing, editing, directing, and producing numerous documentaries and short films. He has served as Director General at Films Division, Government of India, and as CEO of the Children’s Film Society of India, contributing significantly to Indian cinema and film education.

Apart from filmmaking, Kuldeep Sinha is a prolific author. He has written books such as Patkatha Lekhan Ke Tatva (a reference book at SNDT University, Mumbai), Film Nirdeshan, Elements of Film Editing, and literary works like Siskiyaan, Kashish, and Dastak. He also authored The Melody Man, a coffee-table book on playback legend Mohammad Rafi. His contributions have earned him six National Film Awards, the Rajbhasha Shree, Saraswat Samman, and other honors for his work in cinema and literature.
