Kumud Mishra, born in Chakghat, Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, grew up in a military family as his father served in the Indian Army. He studied at Rashtriya Military School, Belgaum, before pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Bhopal. His passion for theatre led him to join the Bharat Bhavan Cultural Centre, where he performed under renowned directors. Later, he graduated from the National School of Drama (NSD), Delhi, earning a diploma in acting. His television debut came with Swabhimaan (1995), where he played Eknath, a trade union leader.
His film career began with Sardari Begum (1996), but he rose to prominence with Rockstar (2011), playing Khattana, the canteen manager. Since then, Mishra has delivered memorable performances in Raanjhanaa, Badlapur, Airlift, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Sultan, Tiger Zinda Hai, Mulk, Article 15, and Thappad. In 2020, he starred in Ram Singh Charlie, a critically acclaimed Sony LIV film. Known for his versatility, Mishra balances theatre, television, and cinema, making him one of Bollywood’s most dependable actors.
