She is the daughter of Ramakrishnan, a Dubai-based artist, and Usha Menon, a dance teacher. Lakshmi began her acting career with a supporting role in the Malayalam film Raghuvinte Swantham Raziya (2011) before making her Tamil debut as the female lead in Sundarapandian (2012).
