Leon James was born on 1991-12-01 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, into a musically inclined family. His father, Noel James, worked closely with A. R. Rahman as his manager, which gave Leon early exposure to the music industry. As a child, Leon sang in chorus groups and played the piano, later forming a school band called Zinx with his close friend Anirudh Ravichander. This early training and environment nurtured his passion for music composition.
He made his professional debut by composing two songs for Kanchana 2 (2015), directed by Raghava Lawrence. His work was noticed, and he went on to compose for Ko 2 (2016), which established him as a promising young composer. Over the years, Leon has built a reputation for blending contemporary sounds with traditional Tamil music influences. His discography includes Veera, Kavalai Vendam, LKG, Paagal, Oh My Kadavule, and upcoming projects like Dragon.
