Madeleine Sami was born in Auckland, New Zealand in 1980. She began her career in theatre before moving to television, where she created, co-wrote, and starred in the acclaimed comedy series Super City. She later co-wrote, co-directed, and starred in The Breaker Upperers (2018), produced by Taika Waititi’s company.
Her versatility has made her a household name in New Zealand entertainment. Sami has also directed sketch comedy shows like Funny Girls and co-hosted The Great Kiwi Bake Off. She continues to balance acting, directing, and music while raising her child.
