Biography

Early Life: Born into a Jat Sikh family in Patiala, Punjab. Studied at Mohindra College, where he was active in theatre and associated with Harpal Tiwana & Balwant Gargi.

Training: Joined the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune in 1970, completing a two-year acting course.

Film Debut: Started with Khoon Khoon (1973), inspired by Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry.

Breakthrough: Achieved fame with Agent Vinod (1977), produced by Rajshri Pictures, which became a cult spy thriller.

Other Works: Acted in around 30 films, including Khoon Khoon, Agent Vinod, and Punjabi films.

Later Career: Transitioned into direction and production; returned briefly in 2004
