Biography

Mahesh Vaman Manjrekar began his career in theatre before moving into films, where he quickly established himself as a powerful storyteller and actor. His directorial debut Vaastav: The Reality (1999) became a landmark gangster drama in Bollywood, earning him critical acclaim. He followed this with Astitva (2000), which won the National Film Award and showcased his ability to tackle socially relevant themes. As an actor, he has appeared in numerous films, including Kaante (2002), Slumdog Millionaire (2008), and Dabangg (2010), often portraying strong, gritty characters.

Beyond cinema, Mahesh has also been active in politics, joining the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in 2014 and contesting elections. He hosted Bigg Boss Marathi from 2018 to 2023, further cementing his popularity with audiences. His career spans over four decades, and he remains a respected figure in Indian entertainment, balancing acting, directing, and producing across multiple languages.
